This just in...(OT)

I just got back from voting. While I waited for Mary to finish, I talked with one of the poll workers.

"How's the turnout been?" I asked.

"Normally we get about 250 people all day", she said. "But we had 75 waiting in line when we opened at 7 this morning. There has been someone voting in here all day." She looked over at the tally machine. "It's showing 850 right now."

This was at about 4:30 local time, shortly before the evening rush hour.

Now, what was that about voter apathy?

I may not agree with the results, but there's no denying that people take a keen interest in their government. It feels good to be a voter.

Santa gonna be visiting the newbies and the Lite Gov, handing out the milk and cookies for X-mas, and doing a little arm twistin' with the bike issues of concern, such as repealing the bike ban on the turnpikes. You game When Santa Attacks the State Sausage Factory?

Some of the turnpikes are pretty narrow, IIRC.

Voting was crazy here in California also. Huge lines at the polling locations.

Pelosipolooza in da HOUSE! Way to go, America, except for Oklahoma. Redneck OKies AT LEAST five years behind. Congress 'bout to take a real hard LEFT away from the inevitable moment of TRUTH in Baghdad, people.

OK turnpikes are OK. Nice wide shoulders, very limited access, and fairly low traffic! Turnpikes Nazis just DUMB.
